The YITH WooCommerce Gift Cards stands out for its excellent design. If you want to give your customers a modern and beautiful gift card experience, this should be your top choice.
When a customer views a gift card’s product page, they can select an amount or enter a custom amount, set a delivery date, enter the recipient’s name and email, and add their name with a custom message. Additionally, they can choose from several pre-defined images to include. What makes this experience really nice is that there is a preview of the gift card that updates live as the customer enters their message and select the attributes.
While the plugin gives you a ton of images to choose from, you can also upload custom-branded images for the gift card design. Even better, you can allow customers to upload a custom image of their own for the gift card. There is a popup calendar that makes it easy for them to select a delivery date and both them and the recipient receive a message once it’s delivered.
YITH WooCommerce Gift Cards also makes it easy for customers to pay with a gift card at checkout. There are printable PDF versions with QR codes for in-store use, product-specific gift cards, and you can create an unlimited variety of gift cards for your store.

When creating a coupon, you can decide if it should be a:
- Percentage discount
- Fixed cart discount
- Fixed product discount
- Store credit / gift certificate
The gift certificate allows customers to purchase store credit for someone else. They will get a printable certificate and the option to schedule an email delivery. They can even send it to multiple addresses if needed.
As the store admin, you get to customize the gift card’s design, set the expiration date, and even allow visitors to purchase recurring monthly store credits.
If you strictly need a gift card solution, then Smart Coupons might be unnecessary, but if you also need a plugin for advanced coupons and discounts, you can’t go wrong with this plugin.

The fact that you can checkout and schedule the delivery later is a really nice touch and something that many websites don’t get right.
The Gift Cards plugin also a new page to your customers’ account dashboard. Users can enter a code to save the credit to their account from the new Gift Cards menu. Then when they checkout, they can apply their store credit to the balance. Alternatively, a guest can enter the gift card code at checkout without creating an account first.
On top of all this, there is also an excellent reporting dashboard. You’ll be able to view balance reports for your issued, purchased, and expired codes to understand exactly how gift cards are influencing your business’ revenue.

Plugin Description
This plugin by SkyVerge works a bit differently than others listed here. While it lets customers purchase vouchers and send custom emails to the recipient, the standout feature is the option to create printable PDFs that can be scanned in-store. If you have a brick-and-mortar location, then you might prefer this option so that customers can show up with a scannable voucher in-hand.
Unlike some other plugins here, you can create multiple designs for the voucher using PDF Product Vouchers by SkyVerge. Customers get to choose their preferred design when adding the gift card to their cart. They can also set a custom message at this point to be sent in the email.
One feature this plugin doesn’t include is the option to schedule the delivery of the gift card. That means that the recipient will get the email right away upon checkout. That said, shoppers can omit the recipient details and then email it on their own or deliver it by hand, so this isn’t necessarily an issue.

5. WooCommerce Ultimate Gift Card
Plugin Description
This plugin is extremely customizable and has a massive settings menu for configuring exactly how gift cards will function on your site. While many WooCommerce store owners will appreciate the simplicity of other gift card plugins, this one will be a great choice for anyone who wants complete control.
The WooCommerce Ultimate Gift Card plugin includes more than 20 templates to choose from, which is more than most other plugins. You can also let customers enter a custom value for the gift certificate or give them pre-defined values. When they purchase the card, they can enter the recipient’s email address, add a custom message, and schedule the delivery. The voucher comes attached as a PDF. You can also enable a BCC feature so that gift-givers know when their gift card has been delivered.
There are too many features to cover here. Still, some additional options worth mentioning are the expiration notices sent to gift card holders, a QR scan option, and offline options for accepting gift cards in-person.

If you’re really concerned with your gift cards’ presentation, check out WooCommerce Gift Card Pro. This plugin includes a drag-and-drop builder for designing the layout of the gift voucher customers receive. You can change the background image, add a QR code, and modify the typography.
When creating gift cards, you can choose between three different schemes. There’s a single fixed price, a dropdown option for choosing between multiple pre-defined prices, and a price range option to let customers select a custom value for the voucher.
This plugin also includes all the standard features you’d expect from a gift card plugin. There are scheduled email deliveries, PDF attachments, translation, QR codes, and expiration dates.
While this plugin had some mixed reviews in the past, it’s only received five-stars over the past year, so prior issues must be sorted out.
Which gift card plugin is best?
I was really impressed by YITH WooCommerce Gift Cards. Most competing plugins have the same or similar functionality, but this plugin has a superior user experience. It’s the best choice for anyone that wants a modern and user-friendly gift card experience for their customers.
As a runner-up, I’m recommending Smart Coupons because it’s insanely flexible and customizable. If you also need a solution for creating advanced coupon codes and discounts, you can probably save yourself a lot of time and money by using Smart Coupons for those options and gift cards too.
